Short Stories by Lucinda Rush

I enjoy writing short stories and would like to share them with more people. In the past I have been involved in copywriting, editorial work, Public Relations and spent an interesting time in the Civil Service, but now it is time to write.

Part of the web site looks at “This Is What I Saw On My Way To Work Today” every photograph is genuine.

My influences include Greek myths, Henry James, Grimms fairy tales, Irish authors, Hogarth and so many contemporary writers from all around the world. Although the biggest influence of all is just looking around at all the small things around me every day – we dwell in world juxtaposed between beauty and sadness. Never the less life is wondrous and addictive in the most natural way.

The Christmas Message
"The lift door opened, a woman was already in there, she smiled a little but Sarah couldn’t help noticing how sad and tired she looked. Her hair was pale blond her eyes barely blue – and she was dressed almost in summer clothes, a white embroidered gypsy top and turquoise long skirt with pink sandals; there was a guitar by her feet."

The Partner
"Mark turned the wheel of the car and drove onto the broad drive of a gothic style house that had been converted into a restaurant and hotel. 'This is one of my favourite eating-places”; He said without looking at her - yet during the four months that she had known him he had never mentioned the place before."
