Read my new short stories online I stood up under the cherry tree and walked barefoot towards the honey-coloured house. As I looked up it was as if the clouds had flattened in the sky and dropped like giant buttermilk pancakes on the ground all around me. The snow had been falling for days now; the road outside Michael’s cottage was covered in ice disguised by a meringue-like snow. The weather seemed to have taken on an ancient wildness about it that year. |
